NirvanaSID plays a SID file using the raster interrupt (IRQ) allowing the user to continue working in BASIC. I saw this in the 80's and was blown away seeing a computer do multiple things at once. This was at a time that almost everything done on computers was one application at a time. Even printing a document meant walking away until it was finished.
